What does it mean when I inherit settings from Parent Preferences?

Return Item Collections and Return Items both can inherit the property preferences from their respective parent properties. For example, a Return Item Collection that is set to inherit Parent Properties from the Purchase Order Number and the Purchase Preferences, will then always use its parent's Business Units Purchase Order and Purchase Preferences.

i.e. If a Return Item inherits from its parent (Return Item Collection) and the Return Item Collection is also inheriting from its parent (Business Unit) then then Return Item will be using the property settings from the Business Unit.
